Michael Thompson is a New York based cinematographer who tells stories through many lenses. Known for his years of experience as a focus puller and camera technician, Mike has an eye for detail and a deep appreciation for visual storytelling. He enjoys creating compelling images through collaboration, blending technical expertise with artistic vision. In 2021, Mike became a member of IATSE Local 600, where he continued to build his reputation as a trusted 1st AC on a range of feature films, commercials, and series for many studios. His work behind the camera on large-scale productions sharpened his craft and gave him a deep understanding of how to bring ambitious projects to life. In 2024, Mike shot his first feature film as a cinematographer, marking an important step in his journey from focus puller to DP. Drawing on his extensive on-set experience, he approaches cinematography with a unique balance of technical mastery and creative intuition. Whether on a narrative, commercial, or documentary project, Mike’s goal is always to find the lens that reflects the story being told.
